Check out our Phresh Summer ’16 shoot! This time around it’s all about the pure essence of summer: easy, fun, and sunkissed.
This week we’ll chat with Bre who colored and styled Mari for our shoot. Bre has been a hair stylist since 2010 and specializes in color – especially balayage and ombre, and making you feel beautiful and more confident than you walked in. Our esti Kate will also give us the details on what she did for Mari’s bronzed babe look.
Bre, how did you prep Mari for the photoshoot?
I first retouched her base color with Wella Koleston permanent color for full coverage of grays. Then used Wella Color Touch Relights in Clear, to seal her ends where she had previous balayage, and add extra shine.
What was your inspiration for Mari’s hairstyle for the shoot?
I have been loving the half top knot trend! It’s so great for summer to be able to pull your hair back off your face without just going to the traditional ponytails and buns. Mari also has some natural texture to her hair so I wanted to work with that.
What tools and products did you use to style her?
I started with Oribe Curl Gloss to gloss up her hair mid shaft to ends. Then I rough dried her hair with Oribe Surfcomber, which gives that perfect beach tousled wave. The I used a large barrel curling iron to add some extra waves and texture. Then I pulled half her hair up and twisted it into a loose top knot, then secured it with a few bobby pins. The key to the top knot is not to make it perfect. It should look effortless!
Kate, tell us about your inspiration for Mari’s makeup and nails, and what products did you use?
I wanted Mari’s makeup to be super bronzed and beachy. I started with Jane Iredale Glow Time Foundation. I love it for summer because it’s water resistant, so it’s perfect for balmy weather. Then I topped it with Golden Glow loose powder. The loose powder’s give dewey finish, while still helping to keep mid day shine at bay. On her cheeks I used So Bronze 3, a bronzer and pink shimmer in one. On her eyes, I used the Moonglow bronzer. I swirled all four colors together to make a smoky bronzed glow that I applied all over the lids, softly into the brown bone, and under the eyes. Then used Black liner in the waterline and Purelash in Navy. Lastly, I used Nectar Puregloss, a shimmering honey rose, on her lips. On her nails, we used “Towel Me About It”, a pale matte yellow, from the OPI Retro Summer collection.
We want to give a special thanks to our partners for this photoshoot, Geneoh Photography and Primp Boutique. Wardrobe styling by Marissa, the manager of Primp West End.
