Check out our Phresh Summer ’16 shoot! This time around it’s all about the pure essence of summer: easy, fun, and sunkissed.
This week we’ll chat with Sharon, who gave Skye her gorgeous bronde hair color. Kate will also tell us how she created Skye’s radiant, natural makeup.
Sharon has been a stylist since 2011, and specializes in curly cutting, men’s cuts, balayage, and foiling blondes.
Sharon, tell us what your inspiration was for Skye’s hair color?
Skye is a natural brunette that had been wanting to go lighter. She wanted something warm toned to go with her skin. I felt like the bronde trend would be the perfect thing. Bronde is a great way for brunette’s to explore lighter hair without going fully blonde. It’s all about beautiful, golden honey tones.
What was your technique?
I chose to balayage the highlights in to give it a softer look, and avoid a harsh grow out period. I used Wella Blondor and toned with Wella Color Touch demi-permanent color.
How about the styling for the shoot?
We mostly rough dried Skye’s hair then used round brushes at the end the add some soft curl. While wet, we used Supershine and Gel Serum for moisture and hold. When dry, we added some Gold Lust oil on the ends for extra shine, and some Apres Beach for texture.
Kate, what products did you use to create Skye’s look?
Skye has gorgeous skin, so I really wanted to let it shine through. I mixed Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Primer and Glow Time Foundation together, to give lighter coverage with staying power in the heat. Along her cheekbones, I used So Bronze 2, a matte bronzer on one half and golden shimmer on the other. On the apples of the cheeks I used Connection, a pinky gold cream blush. I wanted her eyes to be very soft, so I used a shimmering peach, “Allure”, all over the lid, and Oyster highlighter on the brow bone and on the inner corner of the eyes. Skye’s got fabulous brows, so I filled them in with the Brunette Great Shape brow kit to make them stand out. Lastly, I used Milan Just Kissed Lip plumper. It’s a lovely peachy pink with golden shimmer. It’s basically the green beauty version of the all time favorite Nars “Orgasm”.
